Karen Elaine Brinkman (Nichols) died May 4, 2011, at Denver Hospice Care Center surrounded by friends and family. Karen was born Aug. 20, 1956, in Walla Walla. She graduated from Wa-Hi in 1975 and attended Walla Walla Community College. She worked successfully in many sales positions including selling Party Lite Candles and most recently for Service Magic helping professional contractors find employment. Karen was also a self-taught artist. Many of her painting depicted mountain and ocean scenes as well as Native American reproductions.

She raised two lovely daughter, Crystal and Katrina, who are the light of her life. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveled to various art shows. Karen was also an avid skier and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains. She never knew a stranger.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Beryl and Beverly Nichols. She leaves behind two daughters, Katrina Brinkman and Crystal Rhodes (and husband Chris); her siblings, David Nichols of Walla Walla, Jacky Mosman husband Tom from Nezperce, Ida., and Jill Nichols-Hicks husband Brent from Seattle; sister-in-law Jackie Brinkman and brother-in-
law David Brinkman; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her loyal companion Keisha, her dog.

Many heartfelt thanks go to the St. Joseph's Hospital for their compassionate care, the Dominican Sisters of Denver for their assistance, and to Denver Hospice. Hospice provided Karen with quality living at home as long as possible and a dignified experience of her passing for our beloved sister, niece, mother, cousin, and aunt.

If you would like to donate to an important part of Karen's life and death, the family requests donations in her name sent to Denver Hospice, 501 So. Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246.
