COLLEGE PLACE -- A local airfield will host a "Learn to Fly" day Saturday with aircraft displays, introductory lessons and a free seminar on how to become a pilot.
The event will be held at Martin Airfield, located on West Whitman Drive.
Registration for glider lessons will open at 8:30 a.m. with other activities beginning at 9 a.m.
The glider lessons will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. People wishing to take a powered flight lesson need to call 525-9392 to make a reservation.
Both the glider and powered aircraft lessons will cost $50 plus $4.30 tax.
The learn to fly seminar will be at 2 p.m. in the airfield's main hangar. The 45-minute session will cover who can fly, how to find a school, types of licenses, typical cost and many other topics. A question-and-answer session will follow.
The day will also feature a fly-in with pilots from around the area invited to visit, a hangar sale and aircraft displays.
