WALLA WALLA -- A major rebuild of a section of Reser Road is getting close to starting.
Walla Walla County officials are awaiting final approval of environmental permits to begin construction on the road, said Aaron Grimm, project engineer.
The project will rebuild about one-half mile of the roadway between Howard Street and Fern Avenue. Work will include a new bridge over Yellowhawk Creek, new paving with designated bike lanes and an 8-foot wide sidewalk on the north side with a 6-foot wide sidewalk on the south side.
The city of Walla Walla also intends to install a new water main as part of the project, Grimm said.
Once the permits are approved, the $1.2 million project will go to bid later this month. Work is scheduled to begin in late July or early August and the expected completion date is October.
