Group to hold yard sale to raise scholarship money


WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Chapter BI of P.E.O. will hold a yard sale to raise money for scholarships on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the home of Bill and Marian Taylor at 786 Wauna Vista Drive.

Some of the scholarships will go to nursing students at Walla Walla Community College.

P.E.O. is a nonprofit philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement and motivation of other women to achieve their highest aspirations. There are a quarter of a million members in chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada.

More than 77,800 women have benefited from the organization's educational grants, loans, awards and special projects. P.E.O. has awarded approxiately $125 million in educational loan funds, $25 million in International Peace Scholarships, $35 million in Program for Continuing Education grants, $12 million in Scholar Awards and $64,000 in P.E.O. STAR Scholarships.

Donated items for the sale include furniture, antiques, classical records, horse tack and clothing.
