Eleven seek to fill four Walla Walla City Council seats

Two races feature more than two candidates and will have August primaries.

WALLA WALLA - Eleven candidates filed for four City Council positions, with four of those candidates running against each other for seat seven, held by Dominick Elia.

Elia, who filed for re-election last week, is being challenged by Paul Mobley, Mary Lou Jenkins and Jack Kammer.

Council seat four incumbent Jerry Cummins, who also filed for re-election last week, is challenged by Dick Swenson and Jim Hackett.

Because there are more than two candidates running for seats seven and four, those candidates will face an August primary to determine the two top candidates for the November general election.

Council members Fred Mitchell and Mayor Barbara Clark also filed for re-election.

Clark is challenged by Bradley Sandau for seat five and Mitchell by Chris Plucker for seat six; these seats will not be included in the August primary.
