WALLA WALLA - Gig Harbor's Frank Mitchell carved out a 220 over three rounds at the Walla Walla Country Club in play at the 2011 Senior Invitational Golf Tournament, which began Thursday and concluded Saturday.

Mitchell took a three-stroke win over Tacoma's Rich Weidman to capture low gross of the field on the par-72 course.

Weidman took home low gross honors for the first flight.

Jim O'Rourke of Spokane took home Super Senior Low Gross with a three-round score of 232. Dick Knipe shot 238 to take the Legends Gross title.

In two rounds of play at Wine Valley Golf course, University Place's Sharon Johnston shot 162 to win low gross honors in Ladies Senior Invitational play.

Gary Michelson of Scottsdale, Ariz. posted a net of 200 to win the men's low net title. Edward Shannon from Lakewood captured the Super Senior Low Net with a 203. Vashon Island's Robert Lande posted a net of 210 over to win the Legends low net.

At Wine Valley, Kathy Hawkins, from Vashon Island, posted a net of 132 over two rounds to take low net honors over the women's field.

Bellevue's David West edged Lakewood's Byron Nelson, 219 to 220, to take first place money for low net in the men's first flight.

Walla Wallan Rick Doyle fired a 248 and edged Danville, Calif.'s Russ Blomberg by one stroke to take low gross honors for the second flight.

Frank Spitulski, golfing out of Ridgefield, Washington, carded a net score of 207 to win low net for the second flight.

In the men's third flight, two Walla Wallans fought it out for the low gross title. Arnie Ewoniuk edged Brad Rice, 262-271, to take low gross.

Tacoma's Larry O'Neil's net of 216 was one shot better than Walla Walla's Gary Maestretti and Vashon Island's Skip Carver, as O'Neil pulled out low net of the second flight.

Ron Seifert fired a 267 to win the fourth flight gross over fellow Walla Wallan Bob Greene's 284. Buckley, Wash.'s Gilbert LeVander took fourth flight net honors with a 212 to edge Walla Walla's John McKern's 213.

Terri Camp and Sue Chestnut, both of Walla Walla, toured the Wine Valley course in identical 165's to share first flight gross honors in the women's competition.

Walla Wallans Jan Johnson and Kathy Mauer went one-two in the women's first flight net competition. Johnson posted a net of 136 and Mauer was second at 137.

Redmond's Sam Long carded a 182 to win second flight low gross. Seattle's Margie Tessier took home women's second flight low net with a 134.
