Sweets, Exchange Club host baseball clinic

WALLA WALLA - For the second year in a row, the Exchange Club of Walla Walla and the Walla Walla Sweets are partnering to bring a free community baseball camp to local children Friday at Borleske Stadium.

The clinic will give all boys and girls ages 5 to 12 years old a chance to learn basic baseball skills from Walla Walla Sweets coaches and players from 9 a.m. to noon.

"All of the Sweets were once this same age as these kids and these talented young men are eager to help pass their abilities to hit, run and throw on to the next generation of ballplayers," said Sweets pitching coach Mark Michaud.

Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and a parent or guardian must register the child and sign a waiver. The camp also includes a hot dog lunch in the Sweet Spot presented by Key Technology for each camper, in addition to a general admission ticket to Friday night's game against the Wenatchee AppleSox.

All equipment will be supplied, but it is recommended that each child wear a hat and bring a mitt.
