Four left in All City Little League tourney

Sun Rental, Mr. Ed's, Pepsi and Tom's Chevron continue the tournament Monday.

WALLA WALLA - And then there were four.

Sun Rental, Mr. Ed's, Pepsi and Tom's Chevron earned berths in the semifinals of Walla Walla All City Little League baseball tournament with quarterfinal victories on Saturday at the Valley Little League Complex.

Only one of the four games was close at the end. Sun Rental scored early and often in a 13-1 conquest of Dayton, Dairy Queen blanked Mr. Ed's, 10-0, and defending champion Tom's Chevron downed Waitsburg, 9-1.

Pepsi nipped Farmer's Co-Op, 3-2, to punch its semifinal ticket.

Tournament action continues on Monday at Valley Little League. Sun Rental plays Dairy Queen at 4 p.m. and Tom's Chevron squares off with Pepsi at 6:30.

Sun Rental 13, Dayton 1

Zac Leahy, Silas Shumate and Jake Schafer combined on a five-hitter as Sun Rental scored in all but one inning in its win over Dayton.

The winners scored three runs in the first inning, two in the second, another in the third, three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Leahy and Connor Lemma had two hits apiece.

Dairy Queen 10, Mr. Ed's 0

DQ raced to a 3-0 lead after one inning and added six more tallies in the third inning and one in the fourth to end the game due to the mercy rule.

Dexter Aichele, Luke Freedle and Luke Jordan had two hits each for Dairy Queen to back the one-hit pitching of Jacob Needham and Justin Mebes.

Josh Camacho had Mr. Ed's lone safety in the game.

Pepsi 3, Farmer's Co-Op 2

Single runs in innings one, three and six were enough to get Pepsi into the semifinal round.

Jacob Terry had two hits for Pepsi.

Tom's Chevron 9, Waitsburg 1

Levi Haen broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run triple that closed out a three-run fifth inning and Isaiah Standard added a three-run home run that caped a five-run sixth for the defending champions.

Mitch Lesmeister and Standard teamed up for a three-hitter. All of Waitsburg's hits came in the first inning.
