Addiction authority to speak July 6 at Whitman College

WALLA WALLA -- John Shinholser, a nationally recognized authority on recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol, will present "Creating a Community of Recovery" when he visits the city as a guest of Walla Walla's Trilogy Recovery Community.

The founder and president of The McShin Foundation in Richmond, Va., Shinholser will speak July 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Kimball Auditorium, Hunter Conservatory, at the corner of Park Street and Boyer Avenue at Whitman College. A 6 p.m. reception with refreshments will precede the talk.

The McShin Foundation, founded in 2004, has had great success with a recovery program that implements peer-to-peer-delivered recovery support services, according to a news release.

The foundation is Virginia's leading nonprofit, full-service recovery community organization that spreads the word of recovery and educates families, communities and government entities.

Trilogy, founded in 2004, is spreading the same message in Walla Walla.
