Man reports being stabbed Monday in Jefferson Park

WALLA WALLA -- Police officers responded to a call in the 600 block of Chase Avenue at 5:46 p.m. Monday for an alleged assault.

Juan Reyes, 40, was found to have been stabbed in the leg, said Tim Bennett, public information officer for Walla Walla Police Department.

The victim told officers he was in Jefferson Park when two Hispanic males came up to him and stabbed him for no apparent reason. Reyes, who has no known address, was intoxicated and changed his story on the description of the vehicle that the suspects fled in, Bennett said this morning.

Reyes was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Staff there said there was no information today on the victim.

"There are no definitive leads," Bennett said, adding that officers searched the park and could not find signs of the assault as Reyes reported it. "We have very little to go on."
