The big screen is coming to Borleske Stadium on Saturday.
The outfield at the ballpark, 409 E. Rees Ave., will become an outdoor movie theater for a free showing of "How to Train Your Dragon." The family event for kids of all ages kicks off around 8 p.m. with the film starting after dusk.
Dubbed "Inland Cellular's Family Movie Night at Borleske Stadium," the event is put on through a partnership between communications company Inland Cellular and the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation in cooperation with the city of Walla Walla Parks & Recreation Department, the Walla Walla Public Library and the Walla Walla Sweets.
Movies will be shown once a month through the summer. Others are planned for July 23 and Aug. 20.
This year's films will be shown in conjunction with the library's Summer Reading Program series "Read the Book, See the Movie."
"Youth will be able to check out the books that each film being shown is based on, and upon finishing the book, will receive a certificate for free popcorn at the movie nights," said Children's Librarian Liz George in an announcement. "We hope this motivates even more youth in the community to keep reading over their summer break."
Concessions will be available at the stadium. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for comfortable seating. For more information call the downtown foundation, 529-8755; or Inland Cellular, 629-2500.
