Walla Walla County extension sets annual grain tour

WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla County Extension will hold its annual tour of Washington State University cereal grain variety plots Tuesday.

The tour will begin at 6 p.m. at the winter variety plot on Lower Waitsburg Road, seven miles north of Walla Walla. This will include a sausage dog feed sponsored by Northwest Grain Growers and Tomco Seed for those coming directly from the field.

At about 7:30 p.m. the tour will move to the spring variety plot just east of Waitsburg on U.S. Highway 12.

WSU wheat breeders Aaron Carter and Mike Pumphrey will be discussing the different varieties in the cereal plots. Stephen Guy, WSU extension agronomist, coordinates the plots.

People with disabilities who require alternative means for communication of program information or reasonable accommodations should contact Mary Eagon by Monday at 328 W. Poplar St. or by calling 524-2685.

Information is available from Paul Carter at 382-4741 or by emailing cart@wsu.edu.
