WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - Bennie and Faye Mason


Bennie and Faye Mason of Milton-Freewater celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 3. They were joined by a great-grandson who had just graduated from high school at a barbecue for family and friends at their granddaughter's home. On June 4 they celebrated with dinner at Dominick's on the Runway with their son and daughter and their spouses.

The couple met in Wallace, Neb., and married there on June 4, 1941. They moved to Oregon in 1944. Bennie served two years in the U.S. Navy in World War II. They moved to Milton-Freewater in 1947 and have lived in their present home for 60 years.

Bennie worked at area canneries and retired from Brittany Farming in 1985. Faye is a homemaker and sold Avon products for 11 years.

They have enjoyed cruises, train and bus trips with the Baker Boyer Travel Club for many years. Both are active members of the Methodist church and Bennie is a member of American Legion Post No. 24. Their hobbies included camping and fishing and reading in recent years.

They have a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Tom Osborn of Milton-Freewater; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sandra Mason, of Milton-Freewater; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
