WALLA WALLA -- A collision between a car and moped this morning sent a Walla Walla woman to the hospital, according to city police.
Emergency responders were summoned to the intersection of Park and Main streets at 8:45 a.m., where driver Linda M. Carlyle had struck moped driver Carol Blue, Officer Jeff Meyer said.
Carlyle, 57, of 1117 Ruth St., was northbound on Park Street in a 2003 Taurus when she stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection, Meyer said.
Blue, who was using a safety helmet, was riding a Honda moped westbound on Main Street. Her moped broadsided the Taurus after it came into her path, Meyer said.
Blue, 64, of 1050 Alvarado Terrace, was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center complaining of back pain. She was still being evaluated at press time, according to the hospital's nursing staff.
Carlyle is being cited for failing to yield the right of way, Meyer said.
