Ruth Eddy

Ruth was born to Keith and Ethel Connell McVey in Council, Idaho.
She joined her sister Grace and grew up in Huntington, Ore. She worked in her Aunt Thelma's restaurant in Huntington in her teen years. She
married Oscar J. Wanker in 1936, and later moved to Lake Oswego, Ore. She gave birth to Robert James on Sept. 18, 1938, and Richard Gale on Sept. 28, 1940. She worked in the shipyards and waited tables in local
restaurants until she landed her job working for Ben Wieler Packard/Chevrolet auto dealer.

In 1963, Ruth moved to California and married Albert Eddy. They later moved to Walla Walla, and began their business, Eddy Chevrolet in Milton-Freewater. They sold the dealership and toured Alaska and
enjoyed retirement for a short time. They then moved to Forest Grove, Ore., and opened Eddy Chevrolet dealership. After retiring from that business they moved to Rockaway Beach, Ore., and pursued their love of fishing for the great Oregon Coast salmon, before moving back to Walla Walla. Albert preceded her in death in April 2008.

She is survived by her sons, Bob and Darlene Wanker, Dick and Annette Wanker; stepdaughters, Melodee and Douglas Hess, Susan P. Eddy and Molly and Jim Meidinger; several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.

The memorial funeral service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, with Rev. Ron Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
