Willow, 2 E. Rose St., will hold an opening night artists' reception for local artists Hans Matschukat and Elizabeth Harris from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The exhibit, "Collective Visions" will be on display until May 2.
The following is an excerpt from a joint artist statement written by Harris:
"One never knows when one sits down to make art or collaborate, write or compose whether the time will be fruitful or frustrating or disastrous but artists can't help themselves. We help each other. Making things and creating images is a way of making sense of the world ...
"Together, we have tried to focus on things that we value. Our interests collaborate well, that part is easy for us. We made the decision when we committed to this show that we wanted to collaborate on key aspects, that is, Hans would build the structural bases for the frames for my paintings and we would make the three-dimensional boxes together using his photographs, constructing the realia for them, and then I would deal with the finishing."
