Scott Palmer
March 12, 1946 - March 1, 2011

Scott L. Palmer, of Hermiston, Ore., was born on March 12, 1946, in Palo Alto, California to parents, Merle and Irene Ledin Palmer. He died on March 1, 2011, in Boardman, Ore. at the age of 64 years. Scott was raised and attended schools in California. He joined the United States Navy in 1963, and served until his honorable discharge in 1967. Scott married Terry Estrada on Feb. 14, 1968 in Reno, Nev. He worked for the Westinghouse Corporation as a mechanic in California for a time before moving to Milton Freewater, Ore. He reenlisted in the United States Navy in 1973, and served until his honorable discharge in 1975. Scott then returned to Milton Freewater, Oregon and worked as a mechanic for Iowa Beef Processing. He has worked for Portland General Electric for 30 years as a mechanic and was currently the maintenance foreman at the Boardman Coal Fire Plant, Boardman, Ore. Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Terry Palmer, Hermiston, Ore., mother: Irene Gould, College Place, Wash. ; son: Ty James Palmer his wife Michelle, Selah, Wash.; daughter: Leslie Marie Read her husband Mike, Kettle Falls, Wash.; brother: Larry Palmer, Federal Way, Wash.; sisters: Merleigh Jones, Fresno, Cali., Bonni Palmer, Portland, Ore., and Debi Kraft, Nampa, Id; 3 grandchildren: Nick Read, Michael Noyes, and Kameron Palmer.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Merle Palmer.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 485 W. Locust Ave., Hermiston, Ore. 97838.
