Golden Eagles down Perrydale, to play for state title

BAKER CITY - Perrydale rallied from a 29-21 halftime deficit to trail Nixyaawii's girls 39-38 entering the fourth quarter in Oregon state Class 1A semifinal play Friday night at Baker High School.

But the Pirates couldn't maintain their momentum in the final period, as the Golden Eagles outscored them 11-2 to advance to the state championship game Saturday evening with the 50-40 victory.

Nixyaawii played Hosanna Christian, a 35-34 winner over Crane in the other semifinal Friday, for the state title Saturday.

Against Perrydale, Jessica Simpson led the Golden Eagles with 18 points.

Kristi Miller scored 10 in the victory.

The Pirates' Cali Cruickshank hit 11-of-15 field goals to score 24 points in the losing effort.
