WALLA WALLA - Alyssa Roberg, a Whitman College sophomore, has been named Northwest Conference Student Athlete of the Week for women's tennis.
The award, announced Tuesday, was for matches last weekend, when Roberg won twice at No. 1 doubles and twice at No. 2 singles.
Roberg helped Whitman post an easy 7-2 victory over Puget Sound Friday night in the Bratton Tennis Center.
After she and senior teammate Elise Otto tossed an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles, Roberg cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
On Saturday in a match that was closer than the final score indicates, Roberg had a hand in two team points as Whitman dropped a 6-3 decision to Whitworth.
She teamed with Otto for an 8-3 victory over Whitworth's Rachel Burns and Alli Marshall, and then cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Marshall at No. 2 singles.
