Herbert Kroschel III

Herbert Ellsworth Kroschel III, 41 of Salem, Ore., died on Feb. 20, 2011, in Bend, Ore., from a car accident.
He was born on May 6, 1969, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Herbert and Leanna Kroschel Jr. Herb graduated from St. Helens High School in 1988, and from Western Oregon University in 1996. He married Peggy Wolfswinkel on June 30, 1991. Herb lived in Pine Bluff, Wyo., from 1969-1974; Scappoose/St. Helens, Ore., from 1974-1988; College Place from 1989-1990; before settling down in Salem, Ore., in 1991.
Herb received a bachelor of science in business administration from Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore. He worked at Holliday Retirement Corporation in Salem from 1996-2005, as a staff accountant, and then as controller/general manager of Action Wood Products in Turner, Ore., from 2005 until his death. He was a member of the East Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he served as church treasurer. Herb was a charter member of the Salem Adventist Men's Chorus and the Oregon Adventist Men's Chorus. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as golf and four-wheeling in the snow and mud with their four-wheeling group. He taught his sons that serving the Lord and helping others was very important.
Herb is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Pierce and Harrison Kroschel of Salem, Ore.; parents, Herbert and Leanna Kroschel Jr. of Walla Walla; sisters, Shelly (Steven) Groulik of College Place, and Jessica (Michael) Murff of College Place; brother, Shawn Kroschel of Walla Walla; niece, Megan Groulik of Fairview, Ore.; nephew, Patrick Murff of College Place; in-laws, Ben and Patricia Wolfswinkel of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Becky Wolfswinkel of Vancouver, Wash., and Wendy Wolfswinkel of Vancouver, Wash.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Michael.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the East Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5575 Fruitland Road NE, Salem, Ore, 97317 at 4 p.m. . Those wishing to make a financial contribution to the family may do so at any Wells Fargo Bank location under "Kroschel/Wolfswinkel Fund."
