Jenny Jane Paietta, passed away March 9, 2011, at Emeritus Garrison Creek Lodge. Viewing & visitation will be on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and on Monday, March 14, 2011, from 9 a.m. until after the rosary at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The rosary will be recited on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with Sister Helen Mason officiating. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Patrick Kerst, celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Garden Mausoleum at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, St. Mary Regional Cancer Center or the Italian Heritage Association through the funeral home.
Jenny was born on August 2, 1921, to Pietro Josephine Tarallo Buttice, whom immigrated from Raffadali, Sicily to Walla Walla, and was a lifelong resident. She was raised on the "South Ninth," Route One residence and graduated from Brade Grade School. She helped her parents and sibling on their onion and vegetable farm.
On Oct. 19, 1940, she married Louis Paietta, and raised four children, Richard (Lynn) Paietta of Snohomish, Mary (Richard) Odem, Jeanne (late Clifford) Lincoln all of Walla Walla, and Cindy (Chris) Kowalkowski of Fort Worth, Texas.
She was a devoted wife and mother and worked alongside her husband on their onion farm in College Place where they raised their family. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church and St. Anne Altar Society of St. Francis Church, was dedicated to help will all funeral dinners held there for numerous years. She was a charter member of the local Italian Heritage Association and was an active participant having been honored as co-parade marshall in 1999. She was on many committees over the years and especially enjoyed the tours the association took to Festa Italiana events in Vancouver, B.C, Canada and Portland. She enjoyed a month-long trip with her late sister, Rose Teal to Hawaii. She was known for her beautiful yard and flower garden and it was admired by all. She was an accomplished cook with her baking specialties of Italian pastries which were cherished by everyone. Jenny was well appreciated for her patience and kindness to all and was a friend to everyone.
She is survived by her children; and grandchildren, Martin Paietta, Angie Helling and Benjamin Lincoln; her brothers, Melvin Buttice, Ernie (Jane) Buttice and Emilio (Carmy) Buttice; her sister-in-law, Lillian Paietta; and a great-grandson, Jesse Paietta; and numerous nieces nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Paietta; a son-in-law, Clifford Lincoln; four brothers, Joseph Buttice, Jimmee Buttice, John Buttice and Anthony "Tony" Buttice; and a sister, Rose Teal.
