WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Public Schools' new support services facility will open its doors to the public Friday during a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony.
The dedication and ribbon cutting of the facility, located at 1174 Entley St., will begin at 10 a.m. Tours of the support services building and the adjacent Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative will begin about 10:30 a.m.
Work on the $3.2 million support services facility began last March under the direction of general contractor T.W. Clark Construction. The new facility, which houses the district's warehouse, science center, maintenance, grounds services, print shop and food services, is now fully operational. The project was funded with state matching dollars generated from the $19.5 million bond to rebuild Edison Elementary.
Completion of the support services facility concludes the second and last phase of a project to move the district's support services and transportation departments from 325 S. Park St. to the 9.5-acre site on Entley Street.
The Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative, which opened last year, marked the first phase of the project.
