May 7, 1959 - March 9, 2011
Daniel Joseph Shofner "Papa D".
A much loved friend and member of our community passed silently away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his home following a long battle with illness.
Born in Aiken, Minn., to Marion and Marlene Shofner, he grew up largely in Minnesota, Idaho and Washington. He eloped with Brittany Jaelin Hager, Oct. 8, 1976.
Daniel, a Native American, was a member of the Lake Superior Band of the Chippewa from the Fon du Lac Reservation in Minnesota. He had three brothers, and one sister. Daniel had four children, Dena Gollihugh of Walla Walla, Trever Gollihugh of Spokane, Kyle Seal of Newport, Wash., and Jennifor Shofner of Cloquet, Minn. He also had a step-daughter, Carlie Jo Lynn Wall, of College Place.
Daniel was a kind man with a generous heart, always sharing what he had with anyone in need. He was friend to everyone. He never met a child he didn't love, or that didn't love him back.
He was preceded in death by his best friend; his niece; a great niece; and his father. He is survived by his mother Marlene; his wife, Brittany; his children; grandchildren; and his much loved caregiver, Michelle. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of live will take place Friday afternoon, March 18, 2011, at 4 p.m. in Jefferson Park where he took his grandchildren fishing.
All are welcome to attend.
