Grangeville softball team makes quick work of young Pirates

POMEROY - Grangeville made quick work of a youthful Pomeroy softball squad here Thursday, taking 35-7 and 31-5, three-inning non-league victories.

"We're young and we're inexperienced," Pirates coach Rob Monahan said. "We started five freshmen and an eighth grader yesterday. But they're working hard and having fun. Our execution just isn't always there."

Pomeroy had 12 errors in the opener, and 11 in the nightcap, while 26 Grangeville batter walked in the first game and 11 in the second.

Pomeroy next hosts Garfield-Palouse next Friday.
