Phyllis K. Graves, Milton-Freewater, passed away March 16, 2011, at the Walla Walla General Hospital in Walla Walla, at the age of 84 years. Memorial mass will be Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walla Walla with Father Pat Kerst
officiating. Prayer services will be Monday, March 21, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Aid Center through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.

Mrs. Graves was born March 2, 1927, in Neihart, Mont., the daughter of Wesley W. and Clara Kjer Kruse. She grew up in Wenatchee, then moved to Pilot Rock, in 1942, and later graduated from high school in Pilot Rock in 1945. She went to work at a brokerage firm in Portland. On June 3, 1946, she married John J. "Jack" Graves in Pendleton. Mrs.
Graves was a homemaker, raising her children and helping her husband operate their Chevron Service Station. In 1963, she and her husband moved to Walla Walla, where she attended the Walla Walla Business College, studying tax preparation and business management. She assisted her husband in their business management company. Mrs. Graves retired in 1981. She enjoyed piecing and sewing children's
quilts, golf, music, reading and flower gardening. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Mrs. Graves is survived by her husband, John J. "Jack" Graves at the home; four sons, John W. Graves of Colton, Ore., Mike Graves of Cul-de-sac, Idaho, Ronald Graves of Portland, and Brian Graves of
Oregon City, Ore.; two daughters, Sue Graves of Newberg, Ore., and Mary Ellen Jeffers of North Bend, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
