Liberty Christian baseball team topples weather-weary Dayton

RICHLAND - Liberty Christian's Patriots took a baseball doubleheader from Dayton Saturday, sweeping through 12-1 and 20-10.

The Bulldogs made eight errors in the two games, but turned three double plays.

"We just haven't had the weather to get outside," Dayton coach Sal Benavides said. "In the last three weeks of practice, we've only been outside three times and our field is just miserable."

In the first game, LC's Taylor Lindquist struck out 10.

"We had a three errors and a couple of walks in that first inning of game one and then it kind of of got away from us," Benavides said.

In the second game, Dayton's pitchers gave up 12 walks, eight which came around to score.

"Game two, we played well except in that fifth inning, where we gave up ten runs," he said.

For Dayton, Colton Bickelhaupt had a hit in each game. Lowden Smith had three hits for the Bulldogs in game two.

Dayton plays again at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Touchet.
