WALLA WALLA - Wa-Hi girls tennis team defeated Davis 5-2 here Thursday.
"I was really impressed with our level of play today," Blue Devils coach Keven Peck said. "We haven't had much consistency in our practice routine due to weather conditions. I thought the inconsistency would take its toll on the girls' play, but it didn't. All the girls played really well for their first match of the year."
Wa-Hi's No. 1 doubles team of Allison Mehn and Rosa Tobin, the No. 2 doubles team of Kristine Leier and Chantel Desjarlias, and the No. 3 doubles team of Jaime Quaresma and Mari Arceo all won.
No. 2 singles player Claire Konen and No. 4 Rachel Schueller also won their matches.
"Our No. 1 singles player Tianna Cummings and our No. 3 singles player Mary Felt both had marathon three-set matches," Peck said. "Neither player came out the winner, but they were great battles.
"It was great to watch the girls pick up where they left off last season," he said. "The win today gives us a good measure of where we are in our games and it gives us some momentum heading in to a long day Saturday with Pasco and Kamiakin."
