PENDLETON - March marks the 16th anniversary for Wildhorse Resort and Casino, and the occassion will be celebrated with fireworks and concerts on Saturday.
The Wildhorse anniversary fireworks show begins at 8 p.m. It is considered the largest fireworks show in Eastern Oregon. A special musical medley choreographed with the fireworks will play on the speakers at the site, or onlookers can listen from the car radio by tuning to Umatilla Tribal radio, KCUW 104.3 FM.
The show will feature many crowd favorites, including exploding shells with names such as Peacock Tail, Red and Silver Rain, Smiley Face and the spectacular Gold Brocade Waterfall. There will be a special Wall of Fire, a massive 200-foot-long gas fire ball that explodes in mid-air. Special effect glasses will be available in the parking lot beginning at 6:30 p.m. The show is free and for all ages.
Due to construction, the fireworks will be launched from the north of the new parking lot in the field. There will be security signs and directions.
Following the fireworks, at 8:30 p.m., a concert in Wildfire sports bar features R&B Group "Groove City." The concert is free for those age 21 and older. For more information, call 541-966-1628
