YAKIMA - Walla Walla Community College opened NWAACC Eastern Region softball play this weekend with two wins in three road games.

The Warriors, No. 5 in the latest NWAACC poll, split a doubleheader with fourth-ranked Wenatchee on Friday, dropping the opener, 7-0, and winning the nightcap, 6-4.

On Saturday, WWCC clubbed Yakima Valley, 12-3. The second game of the twin bill was postponed because of rain and has been rescheduled for April 15 at 5 p.m.

In its win over Wenatchee, Walla Walla got two hits apiece from Dara Kosanke, Alexis Bobadilla and Alicia Baker.

Jill McDaniels and Sami Verity had two hits each in Friday's first game.

Kosanke banged out three hits against YVC while McDaniels, Verity and Summer DeSpain chipped in with two knocks each.

"Wenatchee is the best team in the NWAACC right now," WWCC coach Mike Staudenmaier said. "They do everything right, so to go up and snatch a win was an accomplishment. I'm proud of the girls. They did a good job."
