RICHLAND - Wa-Hi's boys soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Richland here Saturday, 2-1 in overtime as the Bombers scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick.

"I am afraid we were on the wrong end of two game-changing calls by the officials," Blue Devil coach Mike Washington said. "The first Richland goal there was a foul on our keeper as he was hit over by their forward and then he (the Richland player) scored. Richland played well in the first half, but we did better as the game went on."

Wa-Hi scored on a free kick as Salvie Esquivel played the ball over the wall for Jose Maya to tie the game.

"We had pressure on them for most the second half," Washington said.

At the beginning of sudden death overtime, Richland was awarded a penalty kick that won the game.

"One of our players made a tackle on the ball for a corner, but he (the official) gave a PK (penalty kick). The linesman also told the ref it was not a PK, but he gave it anyway.

"Sad way to lose a game, we deserved better."
