Irish hand T-O-R SE2B baseball losses


ROSALIA - DeSales took a pair of Southeast 2B District baseball games from Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia here Saturday, 4-1 and 11-6 in nine innings.

Victor Mata slammed a two-run home run in the fourth inning of the opener to snap a 1-1 tie and later added a single to pace DeSales' eight-hit offensive attack. Mata also pitched a complete game, limiting T-O-R to just a pair of hits.

DeSales trailed 6-5 after six innings in the nightcap, but the Irish tied it up in the seventh inning and then broke the game open with a five-run burst in the top of the ninth.

Tim Caudill had three hits to lead the Irish offense and Travis Haen and Joe Duehn added two hits each.

DeSales is now 5-0 on the season and returns to action Tuesday when it entertains La Grande in a 4 p.m. non-league single game at Ray Lane Field.
