RICHLAND - Walla Walla Community College golfer Dona Dunovant held on to win the women's side of an NWAACC golf match hosted by Columbia Basin College at Canyon Lakes here Monday.
Dunovant finished 75-88-163 to finish atop the field.
The Warriors' men's and women's teams finished third.
"The course was terrific, it's always great to play Canyon Lakes," WWCC coach Mike Rostollan said "It was fast, so there was all kinds of sport for the players. The weather cooperated. It was cold in the morning, but very playable in the afternoon.
"It was a good test for them," he said. "We've got some work to do, but it was a good showing for both teams."
On the men's side, Warrior Josh Scothorne, who was tied with two others at 72 atop the men's field after the first round at Horn Rapids, finished with an 82 Monday. The 154 gave him fifth place.
Scothorne and WWCC's Ash Miles, who finished in ninth at 79-79-158, both qualified for the next tournament. The top 10 finishers earned automatic bids to the NWAACC match at Portland's Heron Lakes April 10-11.
Spokane's Andrew Roller cruised at 72-73-145 to outstroke teammate Graham Schmaltz, who finished second at 76-76-152.
Other WWCC counting scores were Drew Morgan 81-79-160; Mike Ervin 78-83-161; and Cory Spencer 83-78-161.
Non-counting for the Warriors was Max Levitch at 82-82-164.
Jamie Robison finished up 90-96-186 for the WWCC women, with Jordan Simpkins was 98-108-206.
Team-wise, Bellevue won the men's competition at Bellevue 308-312-620, followed by Spokane 312-309-621; WWCC 310-318-628; Olympic 301-333-634; Green River 318-325-643; Skagit Vally 323-323-646; Treasure Valley 329-326-655; CBC 328-328-656; Southwestern Oregon 333-339-672. Grays Harbor didn't have a team score.
On the women's side, Spokane won with top-three counting scores totalling 251-266-517, followed by CBC 262-277-539; WWCC 263-292-555; SW Oregon 273-286-559; Bellevue 287-287-574; Olympic 283-301-584; Centralia 302-315-617.
Skagit Valley, Treasure Valley and Grays Harbor didn't record team scores.
