TOUCHET - Touchet swept past Pomeroy to close its Southeast 1B softball league schedule here Tuesday.
The Indians won the first game, 21-3, in three innings off a 15-run mercy rule. They continued the sweep with a 19-7, five-inning nightcap win.
"Pomeroy isn't as lopsided as the score is in either game," said Indians head coach Gary Dorman. "They got legit hits and they're aggressive at the plate and did a nice job. The problem is, they just don't have consistent pitching. ... In a couple of years, I expect they'll be real good."
Dorman had freshman McKayla Bishop pitch the first game. She gave up three runs on two hits.
Meanwhile, the Indians advanced to base with 16 base on balls in game one.
"We'd get the bases loaded, then someone would get key hits for us," Dorman said.
In game two, Dorman started all freshmen. Harley Schaeffer pitched the first four innings, striking out the side as Touchet picked up a 13-0 lead.
But Pomeroy was ready in the fourth, scoring seven runs.
"They legitimately scored the seven runs," Dorman said. "They put the bat on the ball and did a good job."
The Indians wrap the league schedule with a 6-1 record. They play a home-and-home series with Waitsburg-Prescott beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday at Prescott.
The postseason begins May 17 at Colfax. The Indians will face Garfield-Palouse and continue from there.
