WENATCHEE - Walla Walla Community College and Chance Kopacz barely gave Wenatchee a chance in picking up two NWAACC East Region wins Wednesday.
The Warriors grabbed the first game, 8-2, and shut the Knights down for an 8-0 nightcap win and sweep, improving their East Region record to 14-8 and overall standings to 24-12.
Kopacz hit a three-run home run in game one, followed by a solo slam, and hit a school-record 18th double in game two in the win. Kopacz brought home six of the Warriors' 16 runs on the day.
Game one pitcher Tyler Roberts and game two's Brett Watson and Nick Jordan didn't helping Wenatchee, either.
Roberts gave up two runs off nine hits, while Watson and Jordan shut the Knights down, holding them scoreless on five hits, in game two.
"Our pitchers commanded the strike zone all day," said WWCC coach Dave Meliah.
Roberts is now 5-1. He struck out 11 and walked one in the game. Watson is 6-4 and had six strikeouts.
The Warriors opened game one with a 4-0 lead and went to 6-0 before Wenatchee managed two runs in the fifth. Marc Garza, Jared Jordan and Kasey Knigge all helped Kopacz bring runners home.
Knigge had the Warriors' third home run on the day.
WWCC opened game two with three more runs and never looked back.
Jordan, Knigge and Garza also had RBI in the game.
"We swung the bats well with runners in scoring position," Meliah said.
The Warriors travel to last-place Blue Mountain for a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
