Bernard (Bernie) Evans Stevenson passed away peacefully on April 21, 2011, at the age of 94. He lived a rich full life and will be remembered for his love of life and cheerful nature. He enjoyed his family, golf, fishing, traveling, boating and life at their Lake Home
at Coeur D'Alene Lake in Idaho.

Bernie was born in Portland to Ben and Bertha Stevenson and married Aileen M. Jones, the love of his life, on June 22, 1941.

He is survived by Aileen; son, Ben and daughter-in-
law, Gwen Stevenson; daughter, Linda and son-in-law Peter Sternitzky; sister, Virginia Jones and sister-in-
law Margaret Jones. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three nieces.

Bernie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and a short time during the Korean Conflict. Bernie's federal government career spanned over 37 years and included duty in Portland, Walla Walla, Seattle and Washington, D.C., where his last federal job was with the Defense Mapping Agency. After retiring from federal service, he spent five years as a property appraiser for the Walla Walla County Assessor's Office.

He was a longtime member of the Pioneer United Methodist Church, life member of the Blue Mountain Lodge #13 F AM Scottish Rite, various retired associations and numerous other organizations.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Pioneer United Methodist Church in Walla Walla. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the
Pioneer Methodist Church Building Fund, Casey Eye Clinic or any charity of your choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
