IRRIGON - Dallas Reich struck out 11 over seven innings here Saturday to help lead Weston-McEwen to a 3-1 victory over Irrigon in the first game of a Special District 6 baseball doubleheader.
The TigerScots broke a 6-6 tie in the nightcap with three runs in the fourth inning and went on to an 11-8 win.
W-M improved to 9-2 in league and is in sole possession of second place. The TigerScots are 13-6 overall.
Reich did not allow a run in the opener until the seventh inning.
Jared Bond and Reich paced the TigerScots with two hits apiece in game two. One of Reich's hits was a two-out, solo home run to left field in the second inning.
"They (Irrigon) are at the bottom of our league, but we played pretty good games and pulled them out," W-M coach T.J. Haguewood said.
W-M prevailed despite being outhit 5-3 in game one and 10-7 in the second game.
The TigerScots play at Pilot Rock on Tuesday.
