Dayton hands Liberty Christian 10-0, 14-3 Southeast 2B defeats

DAYTON - Dayton finally took the softball field after a 10-day layoff, and responded with a Southeast 2B sweep of Liberty Christian, 10-0 and 14-3.

"We played fairly solid games," Bulldogs assistant coach Desirae Jones said. "It was nice to get out and play."

Kayla Turner pitched the entire opener, with Samantha Harting taking over in the circle in the nightcap.

Jones pointed out Miwa Umeda's day at the plate, as well as behind it.

"Umeda had a fantastic day," she said. "She worked very hard at catcher, and the first game she had a triple to score the last run of the fifth inning (to end the game). She had three RBI in the first game, and her two triples in the second game gave her five RBI.

Dayton, 12-3 overall and 8-2 in league, hosts Asotin at 3 p.m. today.
