Pioneer tracksters compete at district

MILTON-FREEWATER - Crook County's boys and La Grande's girls won team titles during the Greater Oregon League district track and field meet that wrapped up here Saturday at Shockman Field.

Mac-Hi's girls were fourth and the Pioneer boys wound up fifth.

On the girls side, Emily Childers and Alejandra Ibarra led Mac-Hi's girls. Childers won the 400 (1:00.53) and 800 (2:25.91). Ibarra won the discus (96 feet, four inches) and the javelin (105-10).

Kathleen Hopkins won the triple jump (31-3.5) and was second in the 300 hurdles (50.28), Erica Torres tied for first in the 100 (13.89) and was second in the 200 (28.21), and Erandeni Trevino was second in the 1500 (5:38.17).

Cheyanne Duncan took third in the pole vault (6-6).

Mac-Hi's 4x400 relay team - Veronica Garcia, Hopkins, Torres, and Childers - won with a 4:12.25 mark.

Mac-Hi's boys had numerous top-three finishers. Kaleb Taylor won the 800 (2:04.60), Pancho Saldana was first in the javelin (155-1) and third in the discus (113-11), Dylon Wagoner was second in the shot put (44-1.25).

Alberto Rodriguez was second in the 200 (23.97) and third in the 100 (11.74), John Lonai was third in the 1500 (4:31.90), Tony Ng placed third in the 300 hurdles (44.45), Kyler Key was third in the high jump (5-6), and Lucas Simpson was third in the pole vault (9-6) The Pioneers' 4x100 relay team - Rick Sandoval, Sergio Alverez, Wagoner, and Rodriguez - was second (45.71).
