ATHENA - Weston-McEwen pulled out a split with Stanfield, the third-ranked Class 2A team in Oregon, on Friday to end Special District 6 play.
Stanfield won the opener, 12-2, while the TigerScots battled back for the 14-9 win in the nightcap.
"Stanfield is a good quality team," W-M coach T.J. Haguewood said, "so we knew coming in they were going to be tough. We came back in the second game, got the split and solidified second place in league, so that's a good thing."
Dallas Reich was 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and an intentional walk in the nightcap.
"They're the No. 3-ranked team in the state and we held our own, so that was good to see," Haguewood said.
W-M next hosts a district playoff game about 4 p.m. Tuesday. If Heppner picked up one win in a twin bill with Horizon Christian Saturday, Heppner comes to town.
"The boys are pumped about playing a home playoff game," Haguewood said. "It's a credit to how hard they work in practice. It's going to be fun."
