George Maestretti II


George J Maestretti II was born Jan. 20, 1917 to George J. Maestretti I and Ruby Hard Maestretti in Milton, Ore. Due to the death of his mother when he was three, he went to live with his Aunt and Uncle, Albert (Bus) and Margaret (Mag) Buerstatte and was raised as their son from then on. George graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1935. In 1940, he married Deloris Yanke, and they had two children, George (Jeff)
Maestretti III and Shelley Maestretti Keith. He and Deloris later divorced.

George was a carpenter by profession and took great pride in all the houses and buildings he helped to build. He received his Journeyman Carpenter certificate from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and
Joiners on Sept. 1, 1953. He was a lifelong member of the Local Carpenter's Union #1214 of Walla Walla. He was a Mason affiliated with A.F. and A.M. Pendleton Lodge #52. He was a 50-plus-years member
BPOE, Walla Walla Lodge #287.

George is survived by his son, Jeff Maestretti (Wenda); daughter, Shelley Keith (George); three grandchildren, Cdr. Brandon Keith (Kendal), Darran Maestretti (Julie) and Nichole Curret (Bruce); and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two half sisters, Genevieve Merriman and Margaret (Peg) Blume. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.

A special nephew to George was Fred Buerstatte.

The graveside funeral service will be at Mountain View Cemetery on May 19, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Roland Shanks officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
