WALLA WALLA -- A city police officer was struck in the face early Sunday after officers responded to a fight call at the Golden Horse Restaurant & Lounge, 628 W. Main St.

Officers arrived shortly after 12:45 a.m. to find the bar in chaos, with numerous patrons fighting and yelling, according to a department news release issued Monday afternoon.

While attempting to break up the fight, an officer was punched in the face and pushed into the crowd. The suspect, who was bleeding from his face, also allegedly spit on the officer intentionally two or three times.

The suspect was identified as Kenneth A. Langis, Jr., 25, of 517 E. Pine St. After being treated for head and face injuries sustained during the fracas, Langis was taken into custody and lodged at the Walla Walla County Jail for assault and disorderly conduct charges.

Another subject involved in the fighting, Jake L. Foust, 24, 743 Lewis St., was arrested on a Benton County warrant, police said.
