PRESCOTT - Jubilee Youth Ranch is hosting its first Jubilee Fruit Loop 5K run and one-mile Family Fun Walk at Broetje Orchards on June 18.
The event, which includes the run, walk and a Kid Zone, is a fundraiser for the ranch, which sits a few miles away from the Snake River in the middle of apple orchards.
According to race director Rick Griffin, "It's a great event for the entire family and a chance to help struggling teens at the same time."
All participants will get a T-shirt, lunch and Kid Zone tickets with the entry fee. Pre-registration for the 5K is $17 and the mile walk is $13. Late registration is an additional $5 after June 5.
Race numbers for the 5K will be issued from 9-9:45 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m. It is the only known 5K that goes through a working apple orchard. The walk begins at 11 a.m. and loops the 400-acre ranch campus.
Part of the campus will also be converted into a Kids Zone, with bouncing castles, horse rides, a miniature golf course, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and several carnival games with prizes. There will be a paintball ournament for adults and older students.
Entry to the Kids Zone only is $5 per child.
Entry forms and fees can be paid online at jyranch.org.
Event sponsors include First Fruits Marketing of Washington, Pepsi Co., J Hair Farms, Banner Bank, Integrity Design, Opp & Seibold, YMCA of Walla Walla, Edward Jones, Cathedral of Joy and Cowboy Church of Walla Walla.
Jubilee Youth Ranch is a school for disadvantaged boys and men ages 13-19.
