POMEROY - It will be a parade of power when three large-load trucks join the Pioneer Day and Tumbleweed Festival's parade at 10 a.m. on June 11.
Puget Sound Energy and Siemens Energy will showcase three separate wind-turbine components destined for installation at PSE's Lower Snake River Wind Project-Phase I.
The trucks will haul a 262-foot-tall turbine tower, an 82-ton nacelle (the cylindrical component atop a tower that houses a wind turbine's generator and gear box) and a 160-foot-long wind turbine blade.
The public can view the turbine components up close between 8-9:30 a.m. at a staging area next to the Pomeroy Grain Growers elevator, 2098 Main St.
The Pioneer Day and Tumbleweed Festival runs from June 10-12.
Festival activities include a street fair, live music and dancing, a food fair, a fun run, flea market, golf tournament and rifle-shooting contest.
