Walla Walla County Sheriff's deputy arrested in domestic violence incident

Deputy Kenton Boyd is on administrative leave after the Saturday arrest.

COLLEGE PLACE -- A Walla Walla County Sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after being arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic violence.

According to a Sheriff's Office press release, Deputy Kenton Boyd is being investigated for fourth-degree assault in connection with a possible domestic violence incident. The criminal investigation is being handled by the College Place Police Department. County records show Boyd is a resident of College Place.

An administrative investigation is also underway and is being handled by an outside law enforcement agency, according to the release.

Sheriff John Turner said this morning Boyd is on paid administrative leave from deputy and office duties pending the outcome of the investigations. Turner added Boyd will be telecommuting each week while conducting grant research and other administrative work.

"I think it's important for people to know that although on paid administrative leave and unable to perform his regular patrol duties while these investigations take place, he will not be getting paid for simply sitting around," Turner wrote in an email. "He will be working to help make the Sheriff's Office and our community better."
