WALLA WALLA -- A new trial date has been set for a local gang member accused of arming himself with a handgun and robbing the Zip Zone Conoco of beer in February.
Corey J. Reece, 25, of 9231/2 W. Chestnut St., initially had been scheduled for trial in Superior Court on May 17. But a new date of Aug. 23 has been set.
Reece has pleaded innocent to charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He is accused of robbing the Zip Zone, 110 N. Ninth Ave., about 1 a.m. Feb. 18.
Officials say he was armed with a gun as he took two 12-packs of beer from the store and threatened the clerk.
Reece is believed to have left in a gold-colored sedan heading west on Alder Street. The alleged driver, Carlos U. Ramirez, 16, of 368 Myrtle St., is scheduled for trial July 7 in juvenile court on a charge of first-degree rendering criminal assistance.
A convicted felon, Reece has been arrested in the past for alleged drug offenses, weapons violations and assaults.
