Marion Viola Juanita Johnson Monroe went to sleep in Jesus on May 25, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Farmington, Wash.

She was born in Montana, on Sept. 4, 1920, to Ernest and Martha Johnson. Marion graduated from WaHi in 1937. She then completed a beauty course and worked in her father's barber shop.

Marion married Norman Monroe in 1942. She was active with her three daughters at church and school. She was a member of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was active in PTA, Campfire Girls and 4-H Club. She enjoyed working in the children's divisions at church, volunteering at Community Services and helping with Vacation Bible School.

Marion was an accomplished homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, gardening and traveling with family.

Marion is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Gantz, Margie Broyer and Margo Honner; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and older sister, Althera Hartley. Surviving siblings are Ordell Johnson, Dwight Johnson, Dena Larson and Darla Hanson.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, June 3, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the Milton-Seventh-day Adventist Church. Memorial gifts may be given to ADRA, 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
