An Athena teen is in Oregon Health & Science University after a motor vehicle crash Memorial Day.
Emergency responders received a call at 4:17 a.m. on Monday to a rollover of a 1998 Grand Jeep Cherokee that left Waterman Road on a turn and flipped over into a field.
Passenger Tyler G. Holland, 17, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered leg and back injuries, said Sgt. Tawin Compton with the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office. The teen was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, then airlifted to OHSU in Portland.
The driver of the Jeep was a 16 year-old female. Officials are not releasing her name, pending an investigation into any drug or alcohol involvement, Compton said. "It's standard operating procedure. We didn't see any evidence of that in the vehicle."
It was not yet known if Holland or the driver were wearing seat belts, he added.
