Thank you to the Walla Walla Valley community for your warm response to our newest publication, The Walla Walla Valley Weekly. It has been a privilege to develop and edit The Weekly in its inaugural months, in large part because of the contributions and creativity of community members.
In June, I am stepping away from my editorial role and returning to freelance writing projects in order to spend more time with my husband and three children.
I leave The Weekly in the capable hands of the new editor, Thomas P. Skeen.
Tom returns to the U-B after six years of living in Japan, where he was the Tokyo-based senior editor for the Pacific editions of Stars and Stripes, the Department of Defense's editorially independent newspaper serving the military and government civilians overseas.
Previously, he served as the U-B's news editor and then was the Walla Walla-based statewide wine industry writer for The Seattle Times Company newspapers in Washington. He and wife Autumn have two daughters, Lara Hill of Boise, and Geneva Skeen of Los Angeles.
We welcome Tom back to the Walla Walla Valley and to his new role as editor of The Weekly.
