Waitburg grad Lehr wins NWAACC shot put title

SPOKANE - Waitsburg graduate James Lehr won the shot put, and was fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer, at the NWAACC Track Championships here May 23-24, competing for Spokane Community College.

Lehr had a throw of 48 feet, 11 inches to win the shot put. He threw 136-03 in the discus, and 134-05 in the hammer throw.

Lehr graduated from Waitsburg in 2010, and was Washington state Class 2B champion in the discus and shot put in 2009.

Lehr plans to attend Spokane for his sophomore year next year, and then transfer to a four-year college to continue his track and field career.
