WENATCHEE - The Walla Walla Xplosion '00, a 10-and-under girls fastpitch team, finished with an 8-0 record at the Sterling Invite over the weekend in Wenatchee. The Xplosion '00 opened the tournament on Saturday with victories over Mercer Island, 13-0, and Washington Blaze, 6-0. Sunday's play included wins over Hood River Heat, 9-1, Northwest Lady Sharks, 13-4, and the Snohomish Shock, 12-1.
The Xplosion '00 came into Monday's single-elimination play as the top seed. The Xplosion '00 began the day with a 12-0 win over Mercer Island. Then in the semifinal game, the Xplosion '00 beat the Northwest Lady Sharks 11-5 to earn a berth in the championship game against the Snohomish Shock. In the championship, the Xplosion '00 scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to overcome a 3-2 deficit and went on to win the game by a score of 6-4.
Xplosion '00 players are Kamryn Coleman, Lauren Hoe, Faith Hoe, Teisha Payne, Maddy Thomas, Bow Maiden, Alison Skurski, Courtney Meliah, Paris Orchard, Mikaela Forcum and Meghan Yenney. Coaches are Andy Coleman, Kaela Hoe and Chris Meliah.
The Xplosion '00, now 22-1, will play again in the Sweet Onion Invitational in Walla Walla on June 18-19.
